Race Party has launched a new feature that is sure to change the dynamic of slot car racing and excite players.
The Albert Park race track at the venue now lights up and glows, thanks to a unique UV setting that illuminates the arena in a range of vivid colours.
Director of Race Party Noirin Mosley said the new UV feature was possibly the first of its kind in the world.
“As far as we are aware, Race Party is the only slot car racing venue in the world to offer this feature. There is nothing like this, at least not done in this way,” she said.
Ms Mosley said the idea to create a UV reactive track gave traditional slot car racing a modern twist.
“Slot car racing has always been great fun but the UV feature at Race Party adds a point of difference. It changes the atmosphere of the room and the race,” she said.
To install the UV features, 320 metres of electroluminescent lighting cable was fitted to the lanes (40m on each of the eight lanes) on the race track, and the slot cars and finer details were decorated with UV reflective paint.
A feature wall of brightly coloured art brings the room to life and adds to the violet ‘glow’ as players navigate the race track.
Ms Mosley said the UV feature made the whole slot car racing experience more engaging and gave players a different sensory experience.
“We’re always thinking of ways we can make the slot car racing experience different, more exhilarating and more interesting,” she said.
“Racing with blacklights creates a completely new atmosphere for our players. And we want to give our visitors a truly unique experience.”
Race Party has been working on implementing the UV feature since April. Equipment and materials were imported from overseas and installation was intricate.
“This is something that is completely new and cutting edge for slot car racing. And when you’re at the forefront of creating something original, it takes time to fine tune it. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve created and we believe it will transform slot car racing,” Ms Mosley said.
